Brief Owler exists to help you understand your money and build better habits around it. To do that honestly, we need to be clear about what we are and what we are not. This Financial & Earnings Disclaimer applies to everything on briefowler.com, our course, our coaching services, our free tools and our newsletter.
Last updated: October 7, 2026
In plain English
- We are money coaches and educators, not financial advisers, tax advisers, accountants or lawyers.
- Nothing we share is personal financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and every decision about your money is yours.
- We cannot promise you will save, earn or pay off any particular amount; results depend on you and your circumstances.
- Our calculators give estimates only, and the examples we use are illustrations, not predictions.
- We do not publish testimonials or use affiliate links right now, and we will tell you clearly if that ever changes.
1. Educational and coaching purposes only
All content provided by Brief Owler, including our website, blog articles, The Owler Method course, workbooks, Money Briefs, payoff plans, templates, calculators, emails, group programs and coaching sessions, is provided for general educational and coaching purposes only.
Our work focuses on cash flow awareness, spending habits, the psychology of money, savings goals and debt payoff planning. We help you see your own numbers more clearly and make your own decisions with more confidence. We do not make decisions for you.
2. Not financial, investment, tax, legal or accounting advice
Brief Owler is not a financial adviser, financial planner, broker, registered investment adviser, tax adviser, accountant, lawyer, credit counsellor or credit-repair company. We are not licensed, registered or regulated to give advice in any of these areas in any country.
Accordingly, nothing we provide is, or should be treated as:
- investment advice, including any recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, fund, cryptocurrency or other investment;
- financial or financial-planning advice tailored to your personal circumstances, such as advice on pensions, retirement accounts, insurance, mortgages or loan products;
- tax advice, including advice on how much tax you owe, what you can deduct or how to structure your business for tax purposes;
- legal advice, including advice on contracts, bankruptcy, debt collection, divorce or your rights against creditors; or
- accounting advice or bookkeeping services.
When a topic touches one of these areas, for example how paying yourself from a business might interact with taxes in the Business Owner Pay-Yourself System, we will explain general concepts and encourage you to confirm the details with a qualified professional. Before making investment, tax, legal or major financial decisions, please consult an appropriately licensed professional in your jurisdiction.
If you are struggling with debt, reputable free information is available from public bodies such as the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. For information about investing and checking whether an investment professional is registered, see Investor.gov.
3. No fiduciary or client–adviser relationship
Brief Owler is not a fiduciary. Using our website, reading our content, using our calculators, taking our course or booking our services does not create a fiduciary, client–adviser, attorney–client, accountant–client or similar professional relationship.
A coaching relationship with Brief Owler begins only when you have purchased a coaching service and agreed to our Terms of Use and any written coaching agreement we provide. Even then, it is a coaching relationship only, as described in that written agreement. A free Night Brief discovery call, an email exchange or a social media message does not create a professional relationship of any kind.
You remain fully responsible for your own financial decisions, actions and results. Coaching is also not a substitute for therapy or medical care. If spending is linked to significant emotional distress, we encourage you to seek support from a qualified health professional too.
4. Earnings and results disclaimer
We cannot and do not guarantee any particular outcome. In particular, we make no guarantee that you will:
- save any specific amount of money;
- reduce or pay off your debt by any amount or by any date;
- increase your income or your business's profit;
- build an emergency fund or reach a savings goal within any timeframe; or
- change any spending habit permanently.
Money outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including your income, expenses, debts, interest rates, health, family circumstances, the wider economy and, above all, the actions you choose to take. Individual results vary, and some people will see little or no change.
Examples are illustrative
Throughout our website, course and articles, we use examples to explain ideas. These are clearly labelled illustrations, not descriptions of real clients and not predictions of what you will achieve.
Example: if you spend $14 four times a week on takeaway lunches, that adds up to $56 a week, or $2,912 over 52 weeks. This shows how small, repeated costs add up. It does not mean you will save $2,912, or that you should stop buying lunch; our approach is about redirecting money towards what matters most to you, not cutting everything.
Any figures we use to show how a strategy might work, such as interest saved under the debt snowball or avalanche methods, depend on assumptions that may not match your situation.
5. Calculators and tools provide estimates only
The free calculators on our tools page, including the money-leak finder, debt payoff snowball vs avalanche calculator, emergency-fund calculator and savings-goal timeline, as well as any spreadsheets we provide, are designed to help you explore scenarios. Their results are estimates only.
- Results depend entirely on the figures you enter and on simplifying assumptions, such as fixed interest rates, constant payments and no new borrowing.
- They may not reflect how your lender calculates interest, fees, minimum payments or compounding.
- They do not take account of taxes, inflation, changes to your income or other real-world factors unless stated.
Please check important figures with your lender, bank or a qualified professional before relying on them. The numbers you enter into our calculators are not stored or sent to us; see our Privacy Policy.
6. Accuracy of information
We work hard to keep our content accurate, clear and up to date. However, financial products, interest rates, laws and regulations change, and general information may not apply in your country or state. We do not warrant that any content is complete, current or suitable for your situation. Articles reflect our understanding at the time of writing and may not be updated as circumstances change.
7. External links
Our website and articles sometimes link to external websites, usually authoritative public sources such as government consumer finance agencies. We provide these links for your convenience and further reading. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link does not mean we endorse any organisation, product or service.
8. Testimonials and endorsements
Brief Owler does not currently publish client testimonials or reviews. We would rather tell you honestly what we offer than rely on claims you cannot check.
If we publish testimonials in future, we commit that:
- they will come from real clients who have given written permission, and will reflect their honest experience;
- they will not be paid for, or, if any payment, discount, free service or other connection exists, it will be clearly disclosed in line with the US Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising;
- we will not edit them in a way that changes their meaning; and
- any results they describe will be presented as that person's individual experience, not as typical or guaranteed results.
9. Affiliate disclosure
Our website does not currently contain any affiliate links, and we do not receive commissions or payments for recommending any bank, app, credit card, loan or other financial product.
If we ever add affiliate links or receive compensation for a recommendation, we will disclose it clearly and close to the link or recommendation itself, so you can take it into account. We will only recommend products we believe are genuinely useful, and any such relationship will never change the advice-free, education-only nature of our work.
10. Your responsibility
By using our website and services, you accept that you are responsible for your own financial decisions and their consequences, and that Brief Owler is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, our content, tools or coaching, to the extent permitted by law. Further details, including limits on our liability, are set out in our Terms of Use.
11. Changes to this disclaimer
We may update this disclaimer from time to time, for example if we introduce testimonials or new services. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page whenever we do.
